1.  PJ Day on Friday, December 14th

2.  This will be the last week of homework until after the Christmas break

3.  Library is on Thursday, kindly return books

4.  Wednesday, December 12th is the last day to purchase tickets for the Christmas Tree Raffle of gift cards.

Monday, 3 December 2018


1. Updates have been made to most of the curriculum side bars, including important dates.

2. Our school community is partaking in a Food Drive to support our Richmond Food Bank.  It is requested that our grade 2 class be responsible for donating  canned beans, canned fruit/vegetables.

3. Crazy Tie Day is on Friday

4. Library is every Thursday. Please be mindful in returning books.

5. Keep reviewing/spelling Word Wall Words and reading at home.

6. It's cold out in our school yard. Bundle up!! It is suggested that students bring extra socks, mitts, clothes just in case they get wet.

7. Gift of Reading is due this Friday, Dec. 7

8. Gift Card Tree Fundraiser is due by Wednesday, Dec. 12

9. LockDown Practice on Dec. 7th between 11 and 12.

Monday, 5 November 2018


1.  We will be visiting Jungle Sport on Wednesday and Thurs.  Please be mindful of your child dressing in comfy clothes (e.g., jogging pants, yoga pants, etc.).  For the girls, it might be suggested to wear skirts and dresses on another day.

2.  Word Wall Words went home on Monday.  Please make sure that you read and practice spelling them on a regular basis each week.

3.  Keep reading with your child.  Have your child read to you.  Once you have finished reading, have your child retell (beginning, middle, end) the story back to you in their own words, highlighting some of the details in the middle that lead to the solution of the problem.
Don't forget to read the Dolch sight Words and Grade 2 Word Wall Words that I sent home at the beginning of the year. 

4.  If you haven't already done so, book a time for parent-teacher interviews this coming Thursday (Nov. 8).  Please see school website.

5.  Picture retake day is on Thurs. (Nov. 8).

6.  Library is on Thursday.  Please return all books.

1.  Picture orders due Nov. 1st.  Retakes on Nov. 8th.

2.  Nov. 1st is PJ day for Tornado Relief Fund (Red Cross).

3.  Progress Reports are coming home on Thursday, November 1st.  Please sign and return (including the envelope)

4.  Library days are every Thursday, so please ensure you bring back your books.

5.  Please read with your child on a regular basis.  Raz Kids is also a great program (information and passwords were sent out a couple of weeks ago and stapled to your child's agenda).  As well, once they have read, have them retell/recount the story back in their own words; highlighting the beginning, the middle (with details) and the end.

1.  Picture Orders are due November 1st.

2.  Library is tomorrow (Thursday).  Please return your books.

3.  Wednesday's are Boomerang Lunch Days.

4.  The colder weather is here.  Make sure you child comes to school dressed for the weather conditions.  Because our yard is very large and open, I find that it can be just a little bit colder.

5.  Keep reading with your child on a regular basis and practice the weekly Word Wall Words.

6.  Homework is due on Mondays. 

7.  Oct. 31st will be black and orange day at school.

8.  Picture Retakes will be on November 8th.

9.  Progress Reports go home on November 1st.

1.  Picture Day is on Oct. 10.  Retakes will be on Nov. 8th.

2.  Homework went home on Tuesday.  A note went home explaining how the homework program will work.  Homework is due the following Monday. 

3.  On top of the homework that is going home on a weekly basis, please keep reading and/or writing with your child on a regular basis.  Writing should be focusing on a topic sentence (main idea) and then details (at least 3-4) to support the main idea.
